Diplomacy: Molotov, Russian P.M. and Foreign Minister, elucidates Soviet foreign policy: friendship with Germany, support for German 'peace' efforts and economic collaboration.

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 1, 1939

Occupied Poland: West Poland, from the 'Corridor', south to Silesia, incorporated in the Reich. Two new provinces (Reichsgaue) formed.
Western Ukraine (Russian-occupied Poland) incorporated in the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 3, 1939

Diplomacy: Embargo on export of arms lifted by US Senate. Neutrality Bill amended. Britain and France now able to obtain supplies on 'cash and carry' basis.
US ships forbidden to enter European 'combat zone'.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 4, 1939

Secret War: 'Oslo Report' - revealing secrets of German long-range rockets and radar - sent anonymously (propably by anti-Nazi German scientist) to British naval attache in Norway.
Rear-Admiral Sinclair, head ('C') of British Secret Intelligence Service (MI6), dies of cancer. Succeeded by deputy, Colonnel Menzies.

SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 5, 1939

Home Front Germany: THE ZOSSEN CONSPIRACY. Generals von Brauchitsch (Army C in C), Halder and Beck plot to stop Hitler's planned Western Front offensive. If necessary, Brauchitsch is to arrest the Fuhrer in Berlin. But, after violent argument with Hitler, Brauchitsch loses his nerve and returns to OKH (Army High Command) HQ at Zossen, where the conspiracy collapses.

Secret War: Colonnel Hans Oster of the Abwehr (German Military Intelligence),
one of the Zossen conspirators, warns Colonnel Sas, Dutch military attache in Berlin, of impending invasion of Low Countries. Sas informs the Belgian attache.
