MONDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 1940
Air War: Slight German air activity over southeast England, but prototype De Havilland Mosquito makes uninterrupted maiden flight from Hatfield. RAF night raids on Kiel and Wilhelmshaven.

Picture: One of the first batch Mosquito Mk IV bombers. It was the fastest aircraft in service in 1941. Build nearly completely from wood, it was the savest combat plane of WW2 (only 1/2 loss for every 100 missions).
Sea War Mediterranean: SS Patria blown up and sunk at Haifa by Zionist terrorist organization Irgun Zvai Leumi to prevent its use as deportation vessel for Palestinian Jews.

TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 1940
Air War: Heavy RAF raid on Cologne (repeated following night).
Home Front Britain: Death of Lord Rothermere (Harold Northcliffe), founder of 'Sunday Pictorial' and former Air Minister, aged 72 (at Bermuda). He was one of the main populist perpetrators of World War I - which was origin for the Second World War - because of econmic reasons (see his publishings in his newspapers Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Daily Graphic, Evening News and Weekly Dispatch between 1904-1914).

WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 1940
Sea War Mediterranean: (MAIN EVENT) Action off Sardinia (Battle of Cape Spartivento): Italian fleet attempts to disrupt major British convoy movements (Operation Collar). British cruiser Berwick damaged in running fight. Italian battleship Vittorio Veneto escapes undamaged despite torpedo-bomber attacks.

Picture: Illustrious of Force H with starting Swordfish torpedo-bombers. The carrier launched unsuccessful air strikes against the Italian fleet during the Battle of Cape Spartivento.
Air War: Jean Chiappe, newly appointed High Commissioner in Syria and Lebanon and a former pro-Fascist Chief of Police in Paris, killed when the aircraft taking him to Beirut is accidentally shot down during Battle of Spartivento. Aged 62.
Neutrals, Rumania: Iron Guard killer-squads 'execute' veteran ex-P.M. and noted scholar Prof. Jorga and over 60 other Rumanian anti-Fascists.

THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 28, 1940
Air War: Heavy night raid on Liverpool by 300 aircraft: parachute mine explosion kills 164, injures 96.
Spitfires intercept Me109 formation off Isle of Wight: Flt.-Lt. Dundas shoots down leading German ace Maj. Wick (56 victories), but is killed himself seconds later.

FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 29, 1940
Air War: Heavy night raid on London and Home Counties by 330 aircraft.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1940
Air War: First of two consecutive night raids on Southampton - by 128 and 123 bombers, respectively - serious damage in city centre and suburbs. Total casualties: 370.
Balkans: Greeks capture Progradets in northeast Albania, after nine-day battle until December 9.

Home Front Greece: Civilian air raid casualties since October 28: 604 killed, 1,070 injured.
Diplomacy: 'Treaty' between Japan and puppet Central Government of China.

Sea War: Armed merchant cruiser Forfar (16,400 t) sunk by U-99 west of Ireland. Free
Norwegian liner Oslofjord (18,700 t) and a British tanker mined and sunk off the Tyne in North Sea.
Home Front Italy: Rationing of flour, rice, spaghetti and macaroni.
